Free Universal Breakfast Club

Our Lady & St Joseph Catholic Primary School is delighted to offer a Free Universal Breakfast Club as part of the Department for Education’s Free Breakfast Clubs programme.

The club is open to every pupil from Reception to Year 6, with no charge to parents or carers. It provides children with breakfast and a calm, welcoming start to the school day.

The Department for Education’s programme aims to ensure that all primary-aged children can access a free breakfast club before school.

When does it run?

Our Free Universal Breakfast Club starts at 8:30am each school day, and children can enjoy the Daily Mile with Mr Cuming and Mrs Mensah or enjoy bagels with Ms Webber in the outdoor classroom.

Children can settle into the day before going to class ready to learn.

Who can attend?

The Free Universal Breakfast Club is available to all pupils in Reception to Year 6.

There is no means test, eligibility check or payment required. The programme is designed to be universal, so every child at the school is welcome to attend.

Early Birds Breakfast Club

Our Lady & St Joseph Catholic Primary School provides Breakfast Club provision for up to 40 children (Y1 – Y6) and up to 24 children (EYFS).

The club operates on school premises in a safe environment and run by a team of high-quality trained staff whose purpose is to make sure the children have the very best start to their day.

Drop off Procedure

Breakfast Club starts at 7:30am and the latest time for admission is 8:30am.

Payment Terms

Breakfast club is £3.50 per session. We recommend that payment is made a minimum of 2 days in advance and a credit balance is maintained at all times.

You must make a payment by the SCOPay app, as we are a cashless school.

Payments are required for all days booked even if the child does not attend, the exceptions being when school is closed/ the child is ill or cancel at least 2 days in advance. You will not be able to cancel bookings on the day of attendance.

Should the child no longer require a place the parent/carer is to advise the School office at least one week in advance, otherwise the parent/carer is still liable for charges. Should the parent/carer fall into arrears, the club will withdraw the child’s place.

To avoid disappointment, please book in advance as places are limited

Activities

The Breakfast Club offers a tasty and healthy breakfast, the most important meal of the day! Choices include:

A variety of Cereals – e.g. Cornflakes, Rice Krispies and Weetabix
A variety of Drinks - water and milk
A variety of Breads - bagels, crumpets and toast
A variety of Yoghurts
A variety of Fruits

The Breakfast Club also provides a variety of free play and structured play with a broad range of activities and freedom for children to choose their own activities.

Each morning Mr. Cuming, our PE instructor, takes a selection of children onto the back playground for a range of sports.

We really care what the children think about the Breakfast Club and asked them to complete a survey in November 2024. We are delighted to say that our children are having a great time.
