Our role is to:

• Help create a faith-filled school community.
• Encourage students to live out Gospel Values in daily life.
• Foster positive relationships within and outside the school.
• Support Liturgy, prayer, and spiritual life.
• Involve students and families in charity fundraising.
• Strengthen our connection with the Parish.
• Uphold the school’s Mission Statement: “With Christ at our centre, we love, listen, and learn.”

Some ways we plan to fulfil our role include:

• Assisting Early Years with prayers.
• Organising charity fundraisers locally and globally.
• Running half-termly projects linked to Catholic Social Teaching.
• Leading assemblies and liturgies.
• Collaborating with other Chaplaincy Teams.
• Promoting Bible stories and spreading God’s Word.
• Maintaining the RE display, Prayer Table, Prayer Garden and RE resources.
• Promoting Class Prayer Books for family prayer time.

Our five tips for a successful Chaplaincy Team:

1. Listen to each other’s ideas.
2. Communicate with all team members, the school, and the parish.
3. Encourage everyone to share ideas and do their best.
4. Include everyone in decision-making.
5. Lead by example, showing love for all, especially those we find challenging.

To join the Chaplaincy Team, we had to complete an application form explaining why we were suitable for the role and why we wanted it.

Chaplaincy Team- Autumn 2 Mission for St Matthias

While volunteering this morning at the St Matthias Community Centre, the Chaplaincy Team came up with a mission and need your help.

Over the next 2 weeks, we would like you to donate dinner plates and strong plastic shopping bags to the front office and we will give them to Sister Chris and Neighbours in Poplar to help them with their dinners for the vulnerable in our community and the food bank. There mission is to feed 400 people on Christmas day so we would love to donate that many plates.

Please see the videos of the Chaplaincy Team below and the St Matthias Community Centre poster of events.
