Year 6 Residential

At OLSJ, we believe that learning extends far beyond the classroom and that children benefit greatly from opportunities that develop independence, resilience and teamwork. At the end of each academic year, our Year 6 pupils take part in a residential trip, which is a much-loved and memorable part of their final year at primary school.

This year, our Year 6 children will be taking part in a residential experience with Rooted Adventure at Phasels Wood Activity Campsite.

The residential provides children with opportunities to:

  • Build confidence and independence
  • Strengthen friendships and teamwork
  • Develop resilience and perseverance
  • Challenge themselves through new experiences
  • Create lasting memories with their peers
  • Prepare for the transition to secondary school

Throughout the trip, children take part in a wide range of outdoor and adventurous activities that encourage collaboration, communication and problem-solving. Many activities help children step outside of their comfort zones and develop a strong sense of achievement and self-belief.

The residential also supports children’s personal development by helping them grow socially and emotionally whilst encouraging responsibility, leadership and respect for others. For many pupils, it becomes one of the highlights of their time at OLSJ and leaves a lasting positive impact as they move on to the next stage of their education.
