Week 1 of Autumn 2 in the Nursery!

This week we have been learning about Autumn season, its colours and how the weather changes. We went for an Autumn walk around the school to collect twigs and different coloured leaves. While this collections goes on through out this term, we say a big “Thank you” to all the families who have brought autumn leaves, twigs and conkers to school. Below is a link to a sing along Autumn song which you can enjoy with your child at home.

In Maths we continued practising counting and singing number songs. We have also been playing missing number games using a number line. At home with your child, you can provide the opportunity to practice recognising numbers. What you need is numerals or objects with numerals or numbers on them, starting with 3 or 4 numerals and as they become more confident you can use more.

Missing Number Game

In Phonics, we have been listening carefully to sounds in the environment, naming and describing the sound. We have also been listening to echoing body percussion sound. It was fun exploring all the sounds our bodies can make! At home, play a listening game together using your own body parts e.g. clap hands, tap knees. You can vary the number of beats and or the tempo. If confident, let your child lead the rhythm for you to copy.

To celebrate BonFire Night this Sunday November 5th, we made our own fireworks using coloured chalk on black paper.
