This week in Nursery we have been very excited to welcome some new members to our class… Baby chicks!🐣 🐤🐥
The children have loved watching the eggs hatch in the incubator and were so excited to sit and observe them once they were transferred to their cage. This afternoon we all sat in a circle and had a little hold of the chicks! Have a look at some photos. 😁
This week in shared reading the children have learnt a new sight word ‘and’. Over the week they have become great reading detectives and have been amazing at spotting the word ‘and’ in this weeks book ‘Six in a bed’.
In math we have been practicing one more than. Using the farm animals the children were given a number that they needed to count out and then asked if they could add one more. Maybe they could continue to practice with objects at home and show you what great mathematicians they are!
This weeks initial sound in phonics is ‘I’ we loved bouncing the sound and making lots of silly soup with objects that started with the sound ‘I’.
The children had their first music session on Thursday with Miss Selena, They enjoyed learning some new songs and exploring different instruments! 🎵🎶

Welcome back to Nursery for the beginning of Summer Term 1. We have been fortunate to have some beautiful weather to enjoy with the children outside.
This week in Nursery we have been exploring 3d shapes in Maths. The children became familiar with the names of our 3d shapes. eg. sphere, cube, triangular prism and cone. We had lots of fun being 3D detectives and the children were eager to find these shapes in our environment.
This week our new sound in Phonics was the ‘p’ sound. The children were fantastic in identifying objects within our classroom that began with the ‘p’ sound to add to our silly soup. It made for a ‘p’,’p’, perfect soup!!
Additionally in Nursery this week the children settled back in well and we had lots of creative fun both indoors and outside. Please check out this weeks photos below. 😊
Dear parents/carers as we approach the Easter weekend we reflect on the short term we have had back in nursery and are thankful that we as a family at OLSJ were given the opportunity to be reunited again. It has been an absolute delight to have the children back in nursery and so engaged in their learning. We are truly grateful to all our parents/carers for their unwavering support and wish you all a happy and safe Easter! We pray that all of our school family continues to stay in good health and we look forward to seeing you all again on the 19th April 2021. God Bless, From the Nursery team 😀
