In RE this week, we continued to learn about, ‘The Story of Easter’ with a focus on the Holy Week. The children enjoyed re-enacting the different events such as ‘The Last Supper, prayer in the Gethsemane Garden, where Jesus was brought to Pilate, whipped and crowned with thorns, Jesus took the cross, Simon of Cyrene helped to carry the cross and the crucifixion and Resurrection of Jesus. This morning we visited the Stations of the Cross in the school hall and we later crowned it with an Easter egg hunt game. Please see our photos.
In maths, we learned about symmetrical pictures and shape patterns. The children enjoyed the symmetry-matching game, which you can play at home.

For shared reading, we introduced the children to the book,’ I Like the Rain.’ We talked about the different weather and the appropriate clothes to wear. The children enjoyed joining in with the repetitive phrases. See us look for the high-frequency words, (I, the, like) in the sentence. Please practise these words with your child at home and use them in a sentence too.
In phonics, we continued to play alliteration games to develop the children’s phoneme awareness and played silly soup games with all the letter sounds we have learned so far, namely, s, a, t, and p.
NAME WRITING & CUTTING SKILLS:
Please continue to support your child to practise tracing the letters in their name, starting at the red dot. When they have become confident in tracing, they can begin to write the letters on their own. Please focus on the
capital letter at the beginning of their name and encourage your child to write the rest of the letters in lowercase.
We wish you all a very Happy Easter Holidays!
