Happy New Year! Our Week in the Nursery!

The children settled well in the Nursery after the Christmas holiday! They enjoyed telling us about their holiday, shared their gifts from Santa, and drew beautiful pictures about their favourite part of the holiday.

This Spring term, we will be learning about fairytales and Winter topics. This week, we started learning about the Winter season and how to dress appropriately. We have also learned a song about Winter. Try this video so that your child becomes more familiar with the clothes we wear and the weather conditions that come with Winter.

In Maths, we learned all about the number 1. The different ways the number 1 can be shown and counting 1 object from a large group. Also, we continued to practice counting from 0 to 10, singing number songs, and playing number games.

This week, we started shared reading with a book titled,’Six in a Bed.’ We introduced the children to the character names and two high-frequency words Mum and Dad. The children enjoyed learning about the differences between pictures and words on the pages. Please point this out at home when you read to your child and encourage them to point to the words/point to the pictures so that they know the difference.

In RE, Our Spring 1 theme is: Galilee to Jerusalem. We started by talking about the gifts that the three Wise Men gave to baby Jesus. Explained what Frankincense, Gold, and Myrrh were and how they were gifts that were usually given to Kings.  The children then drew and talked about what present they would give to Jesus and why😊.

Below is our play dough recipe and a video of ‘dough disco’ that your child could follow using their play dough. Using play dough will strengthen the muscles in the hand, to assist writing.

3 cups of flour

1 1/2 cups of salt
