The Bishop Challoner Catholic Federation of Schools has a distinctive identity which strives to be a living Christian family in the heart of Tower Hamlets. This is a wonderful school, a vibrant community. We celebrate our multicultural and diverse identity and one in which every child who enters this school is known and loved. We strive to ensure all our pupils and students enjoy their time at Bishop Challoner and to have a worthwhile educational experience. We seek to make them feel happy, safe, secure and to grow in God’s love so that when they leave the school they are equipped to cope and deal with the world and make it a better place. We firmly believe that our parents are the prime educators and that our success is a result of collaboration between parents, school and child working together for the good of the child.
Our parents are encouraged to be fully engaged in their children’s education and there are many opportunities for parents to visit the school and to contribute to their child’s formation and success.
Bishop Challoner has a unique set up. We have an all-boys school and an all-girls school sharing the same site. This allows us to excel in the development of young men and women within context of single sex education as well as opportunities to share learning experiences.
At the heart of what we are trying to do is to ensure that every single child has the chance to be the best that they can be.
Roman Catholic Diocese of Westminster
The Diocese of Westminster is one of the smallest dioceses in England and Wales in geographical area, but the largest in terms of Catholic population and priests. The diocese comprises 212 parishes and 208 schools located in the London boroughs north of the River Thames, west of the Lea River, in the County of Hertfordshire and the Borough of Spelthorne in Surrey.
Since the restoration of the Catholic Hierarchy in 1850, its bishop has often been appointed a Cardinal. His Eminence Cardinal Vincent Nichols is the eleventh Archbishop of Westminster, having been installed as Archbishop on 21 May 2009.
London East Teacher Training Alliance
We are an Associate Partner School of London East Teacher Training Alliance (LETTA).
LETTA is a School-centred initial teacher training provider (SCITT) who work in close partnership with schools in Tower Hamlets and Newham. They share a common goal, which is to provide exceptional opportunities for the children and communities they serve. They design innovative and inspiring training and school improvement programmes. These are created using a personalised and collaborative approach, along with highly skilled practitioners, mentors, coaches and tutors.
Poplar Partnership
Our Lady & St Joseph Catholic Primary School became a member of the Poplar Partnership in 2019. The Poplar Partnership is a charity set up to support the community.
The vision of the Poplar Partnership is to develop a strong model of partnership working across our schools and between our schools and other community groups and members; to nurture a real sense of community, a place that people are proud to call home; to build great schools whose young people go on to lead happy, healthy and fulfilling lives with the same opportunities and choices of young people born in any other area of the UK.
Tower Hamlets Education Partnership (THEP)
The aim of Tower Hamlets Education Partnership is to meet the challenge of ensuring that all children and young people in Tower Hamlets achieve the best possible outcomes and flourish through an effective partnership of schools.
Led by schools, for schools, THE Partnership is building on 25 years of excellence in Tower Hamlets and an existing culture of collaborative working to continue to raise standards.
