London’s Burning, London’s Burning!

Today we invited the fire brigade to OLSJ to help year 2 learn about what it would have been like in The Great Fire of London.

First we built houses in the style that they were made in 1666. Then we placed them really close together.

The firemen set fire to our houses and the wind pushed the flames from house to house! It was so exciting.

Luckily, the firemen were able to safely put the fire out!

St Paul’s Cathedral

Year 2 have been learning all about The Great Fire of London.

Last week, we took a trip to St Paul’s Cathedral to learn more about the Great Fire and how it changed London forever.

The staff at St Paul’s were so impressed and commented on our children’s fantastic knowledge and learning on The Great Fire of London! They should all be really proud of themselves. img_2844 img_2822 img_2839 img_2826 img_2831 img_2841 img_2840 img_2833 img_2832 img_2829 img_2835 img_2842img_2846 img_2845 img_2851 img_2847 img_2850 img_2855 img_2854 img_2843 img_2857 img_2856 img_2860 img_2859 img_2858

Homework – 06.09.2016

This week’s homework was based on our learning throughout the week.

In English, we have been learning about similes and using them to make our writing really interesting to read. For homework, the children need to complete the worksheet where they will use similes to describe themselves.

In Maths we have begun learning about fractions. Please complete the worksheet and find half and a quarter of the shapes. It is not as easy as it looks! There are lots of different ways.

If you have any questions regarding the homework, please come and see us and we’ll be happy to help!

Have a lovely weekend,

Miss Allison and Miss Cargill.
