Writing in Maccabees

This morning, the whole of Maccabees class amazed me with their stunning literary skills! As an entire group effort for our shared write of a diary entry – this was the end result.

Dear Diary,

Worried – if that is a word anymore? Devastated – if that is good enough to describe it? My son, my love, my boy, who has been by my side for 10 years, has gone. I’ve not woken up – this must be a dream. My heart turned to lead as I dropped to my knees, sobbing and praying that if this was a dream I would wake up to his charming smile.

As I woke up and went to check in on my son, I discovered his bed was unmade. I raced to my husband, my heart pounding out of my skin. His eyes opened wider than a lion’s jaw. My poor husband was trying to calm me down, but I know inside he was feeling the same way.

Disbelief, just disbelief, as I shook my head. Should I go left or right? Should I search or cry? These questions floated through my head faster than the tears pouring from my eyes …

Suspense Writing in year 6

Today in Literacy, we looked a range of suspense writing and
highlighted the features of the text. We organised a carousel,
where we got to look at a range examples which lead to us
being able to create a class success criteria of the features
which we will use to help with our writing this week.

Theory of Evolution in Malachi

Today, Malachi class read theories by different scientists and naturalists and categorised their scientific theories into different headings. They worked well together and they discussed their choices using evidence of each notorious person. They created posters of their findings.

ICT in Year 6

We got to try out the new laptops today in ICT! They are brilliant and meet all our needs and wants for a fun and very informative ICT lesson. This is one of our lessons on Friday mornings where we are lucky enough to explore the wider curriculum with teachers who are also experts in their field – P.E. with Mr Cumin, Music with Mr Scott and ICT with Mr Passam – what a brilliant way to end the week!

Art in Year 6

This week in Art we drew a desert landscape with a focus on perspective, giving it a 3D effect. We drew it step by step and had to make sure that we were very careful with our lines in order to add the correct amount of depth to the picture.
