Remember to practice your spellings and multiplications for the Christmas Holidays. Use the web links on the year 6 page for Numeracy and Literacy games to practice your skills. Homework is due in on Wednesday the 6th of January (the day we come back after Christmas).

Literacy

Complete four pages of SPAG- tenses, capital letters, commas and apostrophe’s.

We have also included a page describing the function and examples of each.

Numeracy

Mr Cameron

  • Multiplication grid- multiply the rows by the columns to find the product of the calculations.
  • Area and perimeter- find the area and perimeter of the shapes (remember, for compound shapes you must break them into squares or rectangles).
  • Volume- Find the volume of the cubes and cuboids by multiplying height, length and depth.
  • Solve the addition problems using the column method.

Miss Lynch – Solve the mathematical equations for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

Use either grid method, expanded written method or formal method to solve multiplication.

Next term we will be reading Kensuke’s Kingdom, the story of a boy and his Japanese friend. In preparation, try and find out as much as you can about Japanese culture, for example festivals, art and national symbol. Write at least two paragraphs on your findings.

Merry Christmas and we look forward seeing you all in the New Year. Enjoy the Christmas break.

      Hi Jake,

I’ve uploaded the Maths sheets so you can complete these. You can also complete the topic homework, spellings and reading. All of this needs to be done for the first day back.

Make sure you get your literacy homework the day you come back and hand it in to Mr Cameron when you have completed it.
