Year 5 and 6 Roadside Safety Play

IMAG0395

WOW, what an amazing afternoon year 5 and 6 had. We had some special visitors who came in to speak about the importance of road safety. Three brilliant actors brought us a fantastic play showing the dangers of roads, and how to be as safe as possible.

I certainly learnt a lot about how to be safe on the roads, what did you learn? Why not add it to the blog through a comment below!

Christmas Project!

Hi everyone,

Mr Everden and I have been thinking about how nice it would be for you guys to make your own Advent for us to hang in our classes. Behind each door there must be one nice/kind thing you are going to do for someone else that day. You can decorate your advent calendar any way you want (sparkle, felt tips etc) and it must have doors/flaps to open.

These will all be displayed in class so everyone can enjoy them! We have talked through one option in class, and they will recieve a possible tamplate, but CREATIVITY IS KEY – We would love to see what you come up with!

There will be a GRAND PRIZE for the child AND the parent that comes up with the best one! We can’t wait!

ALL ENTRIES IN BY MONDAY 1st December! Good Luck!

Homework

This Thursday Year 5 have been set new homework. This is to complete the next 2 pieces of Writing, Reading and Maths. Please return this on Monday.

Many Thanks,

Mr Everden and Mrs Edwards

Things to do to prepare for your Science! (Parents too!)

Over the next couple of weeks we will be learning all about the changes that we go through as we get older. From the moment we are born all the way to when we are elderly. Next week we want to be able to make a timeline of the really important events that you have all gone through since you were babies! We are asking you (and your parents/guardians) to think about the “approximate” dates that you started to walk, when your first tooth fell out, when you started to talk, when you could write your name and other big milestones. We are then going to make our timelines and what would be lovely would be if the classes could bring in some photos to go along with it, any pictures from when they were babies, toddlers or more recent. To get inspired here is a picture of Mrs Edwards when she had just learnt how to cut her own hair…

Jonah’s Class trip and homework!

Hi guys,

Just because a few parents have been asking – the homework for this week was to complete the next 2 maths pages (front and back), 2 reading comprehensions and 1 writing task. Also to remind all children that practising their times tables is a priority for the whole class. Each child has been told which table to work on and they need to be learnt “inside out and upside down”.

I know Mr Everden has already put some pictures up but I thought I would put some from Jonah Class. Our topic on Ancient Greece is going really well and we all learnt so much when we went to the British Museum last week! I have attached some pictures below…

Who can tell me something they have learnt about Ancient Greece so far?

Science Museum Trip

IMG_0101

On the last Thursday of October our class went to The Science Museum to learn about space. We took public transport; it was a very long ride. After we got there we put our bags down and we went to the space section of the museum. In the museum we saw the rockets, old engines, astronaut heavy suit and an amazing satellite. We also saw space nappies then we saw a man talking about Apollo 11, he told us about gravity in space, physics and lots of other amazing things about space and then he let us ask questions about space. It was very interesting to learn about space. After the speech we went to the Imax Cinema and watched ‘Fly Me To The Moon’ and we got 3d glasses! The movie was about 3 flies going to the moon with Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstong in a 3d animated style movie. After we watched the imax movie we went to have lunch. Finally we came home. It was an amazing trip! We really enjoyed it!
