Reception week 23/1/23

In Maths, we have continued with subtracting: the children are getting very good at taking away using their fingers.

In Phonics, we are almost done with Phase 2 sounds; children are writing sentences independently.

Thank you for how much you are supporting your child’s learning at home!

Reception week 16.1.23

We have had an amazing week in Reception! Children have celebrated Chinese New Year, and they were able to cook vegetable noodles, create lanterns and write chinese numbers! đŸ™‚

The topic this week has been “Jungle animals”: we explored the big world map to find jungles around the world. Children were able to describe animals using a wide range of vocabulary and learnt lots of new facts about them.

In Maths, we keep learning how to subtract. The children are getting very good at it!

For Phonics, we are at the end of Phase 2 and these week’s sounds to learn have been b, h, f, ff. We feel very proud of all the hard work they are doing in reading and writing!

We have also introduced “Show and Tell”. We encourage the children to bring their favourite toy, item, drawing or book from home (on the same day they bring their reading book bags) to show them to their friends. The focus on this activity is to increase their communication skills.

Have a lovely weekend

First whole week back in Reception!

The children have come back to school with a lot of energy and ready to learn!

in Music, children are learning how to follow a rhythm while singing a song.

In Maths, we have been ordering items by size and learning new mathematical vocabulary as “bigger than, smaller than, the smallest, the tallest.”

in Phonics, children keep learning new sounds and are very excited to write words with all the letters they already know.

We feel very proud of you hard work. Keep it up! đŸ™‚
