Counting in 2’s

Hello Friends and Family,

This week in reception we have be continuing to learn about different ocean animals.  We have begun using our writing skills to write speech bubbles for our animals.

In the outside area we have set up a shoe shop!  We have used our maths skills to count the shoes in 2’s and begun using 2p coins to total amounts.

Please remember Ruth class has their class assembly tomorrow.

Ocean Week!

Dear Family and Friends.

This week in Reception we have been learning about ocean creatures.  We have enjoyed learning about sharks and jellyfish and have begun to create our own ocean creatures using junk modelling.  We are forward to continuing to learn about different ocean creatures next week.

In the outside area we have been making a ‘bug hotel’ using recycled materials to create a home for mini beasts to keep warm over the winter.

In maths we have begun learning how to count in 2’s up to 20 using objects.  We have continued to  to practically add single digit numbers together.  In literacy we have begun learning our phase 3 sounds.  We learnt the ‘y’ sound and made ‘yummy yoghurts!’

Arctic Animals.

Hello Family and Friends,

This week we have been learning about Arctic animals.  We learnt that they live in very cold places with lots of ice and snow, so we decided to carryout a science ice experiment!  On Monday and Tuesday we have lots of different size blocks of ice and tries to see how we could get the ice to melt the quickest!  We tried holding the ice, adding salt and sugar and blowing on it!  We learnt that when ice melts it turns into water!

In Literacy we read ‘I wish I had a monster’ and designed our own monsters to write about.  In maths we have continued adding 2 single digit numbers together.
