This week, the Chaplaincy Team lead the KS1 and KS2 assembly to tell all of our peers about the Lenten campaign the Chaplaincy Team are leading for Lent this year. We asked the children a range of questions such as what our human rights are and what resources people from poor communities need in order to live a better life where they have their human rights. We can help in OLSJ. Every class has a collection box and every penny helps. By donating, we can facilitate CAFOD to work with these poorer communities to support people in poverty. By taking action, we at OLSJ can help overseas communities.

  • £1 buys seeds for a family to grow beans
  •  £10 means a family has enough seeds to grow
    nutritious vegetables for a year
  • £33 supplies a family with safe water
  • £85 helps build a community toilet with hand washing
This Lent you can make double the difference. For every
pound you donate to CAFOD, the UK Government will
contribute a pound, up to a total of £5 million.
So £1=£2, which buys seeds for two families to grow

Lent in Reception

In R.E we talked about Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday…as we missed Shrove Tuesday in half-term we made pancakes with different fruit toppings and talked about giving up sweet treats for Lent…we will also fundraising money to support CAFOD during Lent.

Y6 Malachi Class Mass

A huge thank you to Father Keith for celebrating such a special mass in Malachi today. Thank you to the parents for joining in with us also. Well done to everyone in Malachi for planning the whole mass from the hymns to the thoughtfully worded prayers. You should be really proud of yourselves.
