Summer and the Seaside

We have had a busy week in Nursery with lots of summer themed activities. The children enjoyed painting pictures of the seaside including ice creams, the beach, seashells, fish and sharks.

In Religious Education we learnt about the feast of St Paul and St Peter. The children drew pictures of St Paul and St Peter, and we talked about the wild animals Paul met on his long journey teaching people about Christianity.

In Phonics we recapped all of the sounds we have learnt so far, and learnt a new letter sound, the ‘e’ letter sound. We thought of words that start with this sound including the names of friends in our class! We named the objects and made ‘silly soup’ bouncing the initial sound in the words.

In Maths we practised our counting skills and number recognition. We also recapped our learning on patterns. We practised naming a pattern, and continuing a repeated pattern using shells and natural resources.

In shared reading we read the big book ‘What a bad dog!’ We looked for all of the High Frequency words we have learnt so far, and practised blending the sounds together in simple words.

This week we enjoyed Sports Day! A big thank you to all of our parents and carers for coming along, encouraging the children and taking part! Enjoy looking at our photographs from this week 😉

Wishing you all a lovely weekend, the Nursery team.
