Art in Zechariah Class

This half term in Art, we have been looking at the work of Banksy.

Banksy is an anonymous England-based street artist, vandal and political activist active since the 1990s. His street art combines dark humour with graffiti executed in a distinctive stenciling technique.

We took inspiration from his work and added our own political statements to some very powerful images this week. Take a look at some example of our work below đŸ™‚

Treasure Island Projects

Next half term, our topic is treasure island. Over the break, you have the opportunity to create anything relating to that theme, 2d or 3d. If you need to, look at the picture for some inspiration. Have fun!

‘Real Eastenders’

Today, we met a cheeky East End street rat, who introduced us to three East End characters, who lived and worked in the area around the Museum of London Docklands over the last 100 years. Through an exciting mix of puppetry and physical theatre, we got an insight into the lives and stories of:
– Ben Tillett (1860-1943) His experiences in the Dock Workers Strike
– Minnie Baldock (1864-1954) Suffragette
– Kamal Chunchie (1886-1953) Sri Lankan immigrant and philanthropist

We learned about the lives and experiences of these people in the past, and were invited to think about what it means to be an EastEnder, and how we can contribute to our school and wider community today.
