Adding and subtracting mixed numbers and improper fractions in Year 6.

Today, we looked at adding and subtracting mixed numbers and improper fractions. We agreed that, to add and subtract, we needed to have both parts of our number sentence as an improper fraction and our denominators needs to be the same so that our parts are equal. This meant that we needed to do two steps before finding the answer to the number sentence.

Houses of Parliament

On Friday we went to the Houses of Parliament. It was such a special and memorable day, we had a tour of part of the building and even got to sit in on debates happening in the House of Commons and the House of Lords! The children were exceptional, asking brilliant questions and showing off their politics knowledge – they were much better than me!
