As part of Interfaith week, Year 4 visited our local mosque, where they learnt about the Islamic faith. We looked at the similarities and differences between Islam and Catholicism.
We learnt that:
- Both religions are monotheistic meaning they believe in one God.
- Both religions have teachings from Jesus however, in the Islamic religion, Jesus is a prophet, sent by Allah and born of the Virgin Mary, but not divine.
- Both religions pray however the Islamic teachings state Muslims must pray 5 times a day whereas the Catholic church have no set guidance on how many times a day they should pray.
