Science:

This week we are doing lots of fun activities for science week. As part of this we would like you to think about inventions of the future.

Your task is to design or make a model of an invention that will change peoples lives for the better in the future.

Here are some examples …

  • A fresh water system that converts sea water into fresh water.
  • A handy robot that helps around the house.
  • A car that can fly

Think of a name for your invention.

Draw your design with labels of the features.

Write a paragraph about your invention. Why is it amazing? What does it do? Who can use it? Why have you invented it? How will it benefit people?

Maths:(Extension) Ask you teacher for the maths sheets.

  1. Look at the back of a book and write down its price, e.g. £5.99.
  2. How much will it cost to buy five of these books?
Think about how you are going to work this out….
  3. Now look at the price on a DVD and write this down.
  4. How much would five of this DVD cost? 5. Choose another item and write its price. 6. Work out the cost of five.

Spellings:

A: war, warm, dwarf, swarm, word, work, worm, world

B/C: particular, perhaps, popular, position, possible, potatoes, pressure, probably, promise

Spellings should be practiced daily, please write them the homework book. Please also write them within sentences. These spellings have no linked pattern, but are needed for the new national curriculum.

Spelling group A’s spellings are to reinforce phonics patterns, any word in red does not follow the phonic rule.
