Year 3 homework 2 (due: 28/9/2016)

In Isaiah and Job we have been learning lots about the Regents Canal and how they were built. We also read the story of Rapunzel and innovated our own very interesting endings.

Please see class teacher if you need another maths sheet.

Year 3 Homework (AUT) – 21/9
N.B. reading books and reading record must be in school every single day. Homework starts, due in 28/9

English:

Reading:

Read every day for at least 10 minutes. Please remember your child must have their book signed. Every fortnight children are expected to do a book review of a book they have been reading or have read, children can pick these up from the classroom and stick them into their homework books

Handwriting:

Please practice: fgry (do a line of each letter then do 4 words with the letters in)

Writing:

 

We have now finished writing all about Rapunzel in class; please write out the story in your neatest handwriting. Check the spellings of key words to ensure everything is right. Include these key parts, but like we have in class you can choose your own ending.

Maths (please complete the Maths sheet attached- the section below is extension. It is optional, but extra credit will be given):

(Also please practice your child’s times table)

  1. Draw round your hand with your fingers outstretched so that you draw round each finger.
  2.  Use damp string, lay it along the outline.
  3.  Cut it to the exact length of the hand outline.
  4. Stretch out the string and measure it in centimetres using a ruler.
    5. How many centimetres long is it all the way around your hand?

6. Find someone in your home with very big hands or with very tiny hands and draw round their hands. 7. Use string to measure the length.8 . Bring your drawings and the strings back into school.
(please practise times tables by writing them in your book along with your number bond)

Spellings should be practiced daily, please write them the homework book. Please also write them within sentences.
