Thank you for all parents and carers for coming to see our assembly. We hope you liked it.
This week we had a Science workshop named ‘Space Race’. We learnt about different people who wanted to go to space, and all about Sirius – the brightest star in the night sky, the Sun and Rockets.
We acted out the different shapes to help us remember.
Then we learnt about odd and even numbers to work out who had the best knowledge of the Solar System!
We have had a busy and fun-filled week in Year 1.
In Topic, we travelled back in time to see how people in the Victorian era spent their time on the beach. We learnt that sun cream did not exist and people had to use parasols to keep themselves safe from the sun. When it got too hot they could eat an icecream, however there were not any cones and they had to lick the icecream from a class jar called a penny lick. We had lots of fun trying on Victorian beach clothes and learning about a puppet show called Punch and Judy.
In R.E. for our topic ‘In the Beginning’, we have been learning about Creation stories from different cultures. We discussed the different parts of the world we come from and learned that we all have different customs, languages, clothes, traditions and stories. We read different storybooks on Creation and role played the story.
