Timmy the Tortoise Comes to Say Hi!

On Thursday 24th November, Timmy the Tortoise came to visit year 1. We have been looking at Animals Including Humans as part of our science topic and the children have really enjoyed it. As a special treat, we thought it would be great for the children to find out how to look after Timmy as well as ask his owner some questions.

The children had lots of interesting questions and listened really well when finding out Timmy’s daily routine. They also had a chance to look at Timmy’s home and compare it to their own house. As a result of the children being so well behaved, they also had the opportunity to hold Timmy if they wanted.

It was so much fun!

We had so much fun! Then we came back to school and wrote down all the amazing places we saw. It was very exciting to learn about our local area, and we can’t wait to find out more!

Peter Bentley visits KS1!

Today, KS1 had the opportunity of meeting the fantastic author Peter Bentley. He wrote a book called “Cats Ahoy” and performed this to us. It was so captivating  and inspiring that KS1 wrote their own stories which they recited to their friends. Our children also asked Peter some great questions and he was impressed. We really enjoyed this brilliant experience.

Axis come to visit!

On Tuesday 1st of November, year one had the opportunity to work with a number of people from Axis.

Both classes listened carefully to the instructions given by the visitors and they carried out the activity beautifully. First, they cut round their hand on coloured card. Then, they cut around each hand carefully before putting all the hands together to form a tree.

Year one thought it was a great idea because we are all so unique but fit well together which was represented in the tree. The Axis visitors also provided each year one pupil with a goodie bag to say thank you fro all their hard work. img_2073 img_2071 img_2072

Year 1 go to Sea Life!

img_6444 img_6448 img_6449 img_6436

Year 1 had the most amazing time at Sea Life! The children were so well behaved and listened excellently to all instructions from adults. Everyone was so excited to take the tube into London and we then walked over the Westminster bridge. From there the children could see Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament which they were amazed by.

Everyone walked around the aquarium carefully, making sure to take in the fantastic scenery around them. We saw many things in Sea Life such as sharks, stingrays, penguins and starfish. We even had the opportunity to touch the starfish careful before washing our hands afterwards.

It was such a fantastic experience and it really helped to consolidate the learning in our science topic of ‘Animals including Humans’. A huge well done to all the boys and girls in Year 1 for being so well behaved!
