This week the children have settled back into school life well. We have been busy learning the sounds – x, w,v, j. In Maths we have been revisiting 2D shapes and making our own pictures have a look at some of our pictures. Everyone also had a go at writing what presents the received for Christmas. Ruth class were also visited by Sister Chris to share how we can be closer to God.
The children have worked hard this term and have earned a well deserved break. To celebrate the end of term and Christmas we had a special Christmas dinner and a class party; where we danced and had delicious party food. Thank you for all your support this term. We have sent home your child’s phonics assessments, please keep reading with your child and practising their phase 2 sounds. We hope you have a great Christmas and a Happy New Year. See you all in the new year – school starts on the 7th of January.
This week the children have been learning about the advent candles and even made some using playdough. Thank you to all parents who came to ‘Stay and Play’ the children really enjoyed doing Christmas activities. The children got into the festive mood this Friday by wearing their Christmas jumpers.
Well done to everyone in Reception and Nursery ! All children have been working hard to remember their lines and all the actions to the songs. We have been practising for many weeks and performed it to a large audience 3 times this week. Thank you for all parents and carers who came to watch.
In reception we have been busy preparing for nativity. The children have come a long way. We have also been writing shopping lists, take a look below. To celebrate St Andrew’s Day, we had a taste of shortbread and made Scottish flags.
This week in Reception we have been busy, as always. We have been learning our sounds and have just learnt our first digraph – ‘ck’. We had a special visitor come into school – Father Keith, he told us all about baptism and we acted out what happens during this time. We have been practising the nativity and many of us have learnt our lines. We can’t wait to show everyone our hard work.
This week in Reception we have been making cards and certificates for our friends to celebrate our friendships. It is Interfaith week, to celebrate we looked at the story of Guru Nanak, the children enjoyed acting out his story using miniature characters. To celebrate children in need we designed new Pudsey bears and did a large spot picture as a team. We have also started to practise songs for the Christmas production, the children already have some favourite songs !
We have had a busy week, learning about Diwali and Remembrance day. To celebrate Diwali, we made Divaa lamps and drew mehndi designs on our hands. For Remembrance day we made poppies out of playdough and done some printing with potatoes.
Welcome back everyone. We hope you’ve all had a restful half term. This week we have started phase 2 phonics and looked at the “s, a, t and p ” sounds. We have also shared our half term news as well as Halloween celebrations.
We had a special guest this week; he told us all about being a lawyer and even let some of us try on his lawyer wig and gown. All the children were excited and listened intently.
To celebrate autumn we have been making leaf rubbings and making collages with crunchy, brown leaves.
