CCS Lenten Appeal

This Lent, we have invited all children in OLSJ to raise as much money possible for the Catholic Children’s Society Lenten Appeal. The theme of their 2017 Primary Lenten Appeal is ‘Growing Together.’ Our pupils have been looking at different actions they can take to work together and grow closer to God this Lent.

As a school, we were all reflective in focussing on the characteristics of Lent.

EYFS & KS1: Fasting
Lower KS2: Almsgiving
Upper KS2: Prayer
Each child discussed the characteristic of Lent as a class and wrote what it meant to them on a leaf. We created our own school lenten tree to ‘grow together’.

Ash Wednesday Mass

On the 1st of March we celebrated Ash Wednesday Mass at St. Mary & St. Joseph’s Church. There was standing room only, as parishioners also celebrated mass with us. The behaviour of our children in the church was exemplary and Mr Devereux received numerous complements on their behaviour and manners from both parents and parishioners in attendance. Also, a huge thank you to Fr. Keith and Year 2 for leading us in prayer.
