Kimberly from the Children’s Catholic Society (CCS) presented an Assembly this week to all of our children and spoke about how they make a difference and how we can help as a school.
Her organisation helps vulnerable people in situations, where the community helps one another.
The CCS’s mission statement is ‘ When we work together, we can help others and achieve more.’
CCS help local children and families living in poverty. Often this is dome through community centres such as the St Matthias Centre. In addition to this, they work alongside ConnectEd (who provide mental health services with group and music therapy sessions) and Rainbows (who assist with coping techniques and strategies for grieving).
Kimberly asked OLSJ to help with their Lenten Appeal 2017- Growing Together, in order to help people and children mentioned in the situations above. As a school we brainstormed a variety of ideas in order to fundraise, such as a photo booth, a bake sale, own clothes day and many more.
