On Thursday the 22nd of February, 10 children from year 6 went on a trip to the Copper Box Arena in the Olympic Park at Stratford to watch the opening day of the ITTF Table Tennis World Cup.
Teams from all over the world such as England, USA, Australia, Korea, China, Germany and any more, all competing to be world champions at the end of the tournament.
The level of competition was absolutely brilliant and it was fantastic to see some of the huge stars in table tennis, such as current world number 1, Dimitrij Ovtcharov. Another name worth mentioning, is Tomokazu Harimoto from Japan, who is just 14 years old and competing in a world cup.
Our children were given the opportunity to show some of their own table tennis skills on some of the practice tables and put on a real display of skill. OLSJ set a record of 22 consecutive shots during a round the table game, a score which saw them beat several secondary schools too.
Some children were even lucky enough to meet some of the stars from the England Ladies team.
A fantastic day all round, thoroughly enjoyable and a huge thank you to Mr Bond for organising the trip and getting the tickets.
