West Ham United Stadium Tour

On Thursday the 7th of December, 10 very, very lucky students were offered the trip of a life time, to visit London’s iconic Olympic Stadium in the heart of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford.

The tour consisted of a walk around the executive suites and VIP areas, the media interview rooms, the home dressing room, through the tunnel and pitch side. The children throughly enjoyed a behind the scenes walk around the stadium, listening keenly to all the information and facts from our expert tour guide.

The largest surprise came at the end of the tour when our children had their photos taken, and some special guests came out to see them. 3 players from the West Ham United team. Edimilson Fernandes, Angelo Ogbonna and Pablo Zabaleta. Naturally, our children were stunned and full of excitement on meeting the trio of stars. Our children were also very lucky to be presented with a West Ham goody bag filled with gifts such as a snow globe, scarf, soft ball, board game and many more!

We can’t thank West Ham enough for such an amazing afternoon, thoroughly enjoyed by the children and staff that were lucky enough to go on the tour.

Year 6 football

Last week, 8 boys from year 6 represented OLSJ at the 1st stage of the Premier League Primary Stars tournament, the first opportunity to use our brand new kit, supplied by the Premier League as part of our link to the West Ham United Foundation. Also a huge thank you to the West Ham United Foundation for the brand new Nike, Premier League Footballs.

Our boys started off in tremendous form with a 4-0 win in the opening game, followed by 0-0 and 1-1 draws against very tough opposition. We lost our final group game 2-1 with a very late goal.

All of our boys played fantastic throughout their four games, however, were unfortunate not to progress into the next stage of the competition, narrowly missing out on qualification by just 1 goal.

The OLSJ team had the best defensive record in our group, conceding on 3 goals, and kept 2 clean sheets, the only team on the night to do so.

Well done to all who took part in the tournament, we are all very proud of your efforts.
